Achievements and contributions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)

In honoring the significant achievements and contributions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to the country's economy particularly in Eastern Visayas, the regional Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA-8) will be holding its OFW Family Day on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the UP-Tacloban Multi Purpose Building here.

This was learned from Florence D. Panao, OWWA-8 information officer who said that the event will highlight among others the awarding of the OWWA wish winner and Outstanding OFW entrepreneur, the winner of the OFW Family Circle Parol Making Contest, trade fairs showcasing the products of selected OFW Family Circles, and blood-letting activity in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross.

Panao said the Philippine Information Agency that the activity will start with the registration of some 1,500 expected participants at 8:00 a.m., and will be followed by a Holy Mass, then the program.

In the afternoon, product presentation will be showcased by corporate partners such as the PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Globe Telecommunications, and Banco de Oro.

This year's OFW Family Day will be celebrated in a festive mood with food, live band, raffles of door prizes, and giveaways.
