Christmas in Samar, Philippines

by Ninfa B Quirante

Samar police Supt Nolasco Bathan, provincial police director, urged the public to celebrate the holidays safely by being vigilant.

Bathan, with his information officer Felipe Tan, were guests at PIA's Huruhimangraw Radio Program on December 15 at Aksyon Radyo DYMS.

He started by mentioning how peaceful and orderly Samar province is, as indicated by a successful 'Takbo Daang Maharlika Tungo sa Pagkakaisa' fun run last week.

"There was no disturbance whatsoever," Bathan said.

Then he continued to say that there is a 100 percent downloading of PNP personnel to the city streets to secure the public.

Bathan appealed to the public that security, peace and order is everyone's concern and that the public should not be afraid to report any criminality happening in the area and also to report suspicious looking individuals.

"During these times, our misguided brothers may also take advantage so, let us all beware," the police director said.

He said he has warned the PNP personnel to refrain from firing during the holidays.

"They should be disciplined enough to inspire discipline too," the police official said.

According to the police information officer Felipe Tan, PNP these days observe the so called Integrated Patrol System.
