Flooding and Heavy Rain in Cagayan, Philippines

Flooding caused by the continuous heavy rains has left one dead and 1,503 families affected in the three municipalities in Cagayan.

DSWD Region 2 information officer Angely Lubo reported that 39 barangays of the municipalities of Abulug, Camalaniugan and Ballesteros were flooded and 7,084 persons were affected.

Pedro Oliva of Abulug town drowned as he attempted to save his carabao which was carried away by the overflowing river.

"We could give financial aid to the bereaved family of the casualty if they come to our office," Lubo said.

Meanwhile, the affected residents were immediately brought to evacuation centers.
