A security guard detailed at the Rizal Park accidentally shot and wounded a park attendant inside the National Parks Development Committee office on Sunday.
NPDC spokesman Kenneth Montegrande, in a statement Monday, said that the shooting transpired as they were cleaning up Rizal Park for the coming Christmas holidays.
He identified the security guard as Roderick Lustina, an employee of Variance Security Agency.
The victim, identified as park attendant Danilo Lasala, was wounded in the right shoulder and was operated on at the Philippine General Hospital Sunday night, he said.
Montegrande said Lasala's family plans to pursue charges against Lustina for what happened.
He said Lustina was turned over to the Manila Police District Station 5.
