Fishkill in San Fernando, La Union

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided a 10-day cash-for-work assistance to families affected by the recent fishkill in Anda and Bolinao towns in Pangasinan province.

The DSWD regional office said at least 2,860 households from the two towns benefited from the program.

Under the program, each beneficiary receives P280 per day for 10 days of community work or service such as the sanitary disposal or the burying of dead fish, coastal clean-up and repair of fish cages and related structures.

The DSWD released some P8 million under the program for the fishermen and their families.

The recipients were identified using the DSWD's National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) project. (PNA)
