Bohol Philippines - Topping the 2008 national board exam for teachers was farthest from his mind. He did not even expect to pass.
"But I prayed so hard for Divine help and did the best that I could to pass the exam. So when I was informed that I landed in top 10, I could hardly believe it," Jessie Auxilio said.
Auxilio, a 2006-2007 Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) graduate of BIT-Talibon landed 6th place in this year's successful board passers.
The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) released the result last Thursday.
Following its publication in national dailies, Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado was the first to extend congratulations to lawyer Dionisio Balite, Chairman of the Board and President-Emeritus of the BIT International College.
A top official of Cebu Normal University (CNU) in Cebu City also congratulated the administration and teaching staff of the Teachers College for the accomplishment.
Aida Dela Serna of CNU told BIT officials that BIT is the only school in Central Visayas that landed in the top 10.
Auxilio, sixth child in a brood of seven, is a consistent honour student since the elementary and high school years.
He took the exam and qualified for the President Carlos P. Garcia Scholarship Program.
The semestral and monthly stipend that he received from the program provided the means to complete his BEED degree at BIT-Talibon in Talibon town.- The Bohol Chronicle
