Art Contest in the Philippines

"Putting Art Back Into Earth"

Amelia Baird, a 3rd year Ateneo University student, is leading and directing the Petition Drive to help the Barangay Ma-a Environmental Watch Committee advocacy.  Amelia is  member of the local AIESEC*, group that is sponsoring the environmentally based Junk Art Contest.

The sub-theme of the contest is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

More than 444 signatures were obtained Thursday, the first day, for our Save Davao Shrine Hills Open Letter petition action.

Efforts will continue all day Friday.  Many more signatures for our 10,000+ drive are expected.

The idea of the contest is to used old plastic and glass bottles, bottle caps, paper, wires, pins etc. to create "objects de art.  They obtained the participation of five Davao City High Schools and NCCC Mall.  No cash prizes will be awarded - Recognition only.

Petition Signatories were provided with the Petition Letter in both English and Bisaya.  Our brochure "Danger From Above" was also used and well received.
