Making good on its pledge to provide not only safe and reliable water supply to its customers but also address their other needs, the Ayala-led Manila Water Company, Inc., concessionaire of the East Zone of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, has installed additional fire hydrants in Metro Manila's East Zone to provide ample water supply in times of emergencies.
Manila Water East Zone Business Operations Group Director Ferdinand Dela Cruz said they have installed close to 3,000 fire hydrants in its concession area, particularly in the cities of Makati, Marikina, Pasig, Quezon City, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Taguig and the municipality of Pateros and parts of Rizal province.
The installation of the additional fire hydrants, according to Dela Cruz, is part of the company's commitment to its customers and stakeholders, especially with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) who use the facilities during fire incidents. Fire hydrants are installed every 300 meters for residential areas and at every 250-meter interval for commercial areas.
