Tagbilaran Diocese Clergy Holds Annual Holy Retreat in Cebu; Masses Canceled in Parishes for Five Days
At least 130 priests from the Diocese of Tagbilaran, including Bishop Abet Uy, left for Cebu yesterday morning for their annual Clergy Holy Retreat, which runs from February 24 to 28.
As a result, all Masses and other religious activities in the parishes under the diocese will be canceled for five days due to the absence of priests this week.
However, Msgr. Efren Bongay, Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy and Rector of St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine, clarified that Masses at the St. Joseph Cathedral Shrine in Tagbilaran City will continue as scheduled. Priests from the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) and the PACEM congregations will officiate the liturgical celebrations.
Msgr. Bongay added that last year's clergy retreat was held at a seminary in Tagbilaran, but this year, the priests agreed to hold it in Cebu.
The annual Clergy Holy Retreat serves as a time for reflection and renewal, which is essential for the priests' personal growth and spiritual well-being.
The clergy of the Diocese of Tagbilaran are asking the faithful in Bohol to join them in prayer for the success of this spiritual gathering.
