Department of Agriculture Under Akbay Program

Fifty-one farmers from Valladolid town in Negros Occidental will receive this week their livelihood support fund from the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the Akbay Program.

Each of the recipients will get P10,000 that they could use for their swine fattening project as approved under the second tranche of the program.

The towns of Valladolid and San Enrique have been identified as recipients of the program that caters to third up to fifth class poorest municipalities.

Arla Arenga, Akbay program regional coordinator, said that they are still working on the documents for the second tranche of releases for San Enrique.

Five provinces in Western Visayas have qualified for the program, according to Arenga.

For the second tranche, DA will release assistance to 231 farmers each in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Negros Occidental.
