The Pangasinan Police will mobilize some 2,000 policemen to safeguard thousands of vacationists flocking to the province during Holy Week.
This is part of the yearly Operational Plan Summer Vacation (SumVac) of the police to ensure the safety of vacationists while they are in the province.
Supt. Mateo Casupang, deputy police provincial director for operations, said some of these policemen will be posted along the highways to provide motorists assistance and direct traffic.
This is in anticipation of the big number of motorists moving north from Manila starting next week, as students will start their summer vacation coinciding with the start of the Holy Week.
The police has tapped its force multipliers, like members of the Barangay Action Peacekeeping Team (BPATs), communications groups and various civic organizations to help keep the smooth flow of traffic.
The policemen and their partners will keep their vigilance till after all the vacationists are back in their respective homes, said Casupang.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has assured the deployment of Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) teams in the beaches to safeguard those flocking the beaches.
