The Benguet First District Engineering Office firmed up remedial measures and catch up plan to fast track completion of road projects along the three busy thoroughfares in this town.

Officer-in-charge District Engineer David Buliyat, who appeared in a session of the provincial board recently, said measures are undertaken to expedite the completion of the three projects along the stretch of Kilometers 3 and 4, Pico-Lamtang Road, and Buyagan-Poblacion Road.

Board Member Juan Nazarro, Jr. commended the immediate response of the DE I Office in directing the contractor, Ancel Construction, in refurbishing the defective asphalt overlay earlier drenched along the span of Km 3 and 4 highway.

Buliyat said their office had been battling with many factors, which delayed the road construction along the Pico-Lamtang area such as issues on road right-of-way (RROW) and the transferring of utility posts.

Buliyat said their office is on the process of negotiating with the residents along the area, who are resisting in the opening of the canals along the road span in establishing road delineation before proceeding with the construction.

For the electric utility posts, Buliyat said they were able to do remedial compromise with the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) in the transferring of electric posts. Negotiations are also being undertaken with other utility companies in the transferring of other utility posts.
