Members of the Indigenous Community in Lumintao, Quezon, Bukidnon has been given plenty of reasons to smile this Christmas season.
This, as personnel of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP); local government of unit (LGU) in Quezon, Bukidnon; members of the Laureano Ledres Lodge N0. 271 of Free and Accepted Masons; and members of the Order of the Amaranth Bukidnon Court No. 52 visited them to conduct feeding, gift giving and tree planting activity in their barangay recently.
The feeding and gift-giving program is aimed towards extending joy to the residents and children and to bring the feel of the festive season into far-flung barangay.
The tree planting activity, on the other hand, is conducted to keep up with BJMP's commitment to help create a sustainable environment for the surrounding communities.
After the said activity, 250 residents and 80 children expressed gratitude to the benefactors and went home with full stomach, gifts in their hands and smile on their faces.
"Expect that we will continue to conduct these kinds of activities in reaching-out to the marginalized communities as we continue to strengthen the linkages established between government agencies and private sectors," said Senior Jail Officer 1 SJO1 Stephenson Cabacungan, Warden of Quezon, Bukidnon and at the same time Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 271.
