Winners in the national age group eliminations recently conducted in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will again be competing in the 2012 National Age Group and National Juniors Chess Championships on April 23-30 at the Tanauan Event Center in Tanauan City, Batangas.
In Friday's SCOOP sa Kamayan forum in Padre Faura, Manila, National Chess Federation Philippines (NCFP) president and chairman Prospero Pichay Jr. said competing in the grand finals are the winners in the eliminations the NCFP conducted nationwide including in Cagayan de Oro and Kalibo, Aklan.
The top five winners in each category in the age group and the juniors eliminations qualified for the grand finals in Tanauan.
Pichay said the guest of honor of the grand finals of the national age group and juniors championships will be Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
Other officials who will grace the opening program are Tanauan City Mayor Sonia Torres Aquino, NCFP secretary general and Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr., and organizing committee chairman Atty. Raul V. Canobas.
