Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. confirmed that he will have a meeting with Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay this coming Sunday, but that he would not like media to speculate over the so-called invitation for him to join the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
"There is yet no invitation for me to join PDP-Laban," Defensor contended. The vice president whose staff has called the governor for a meeting with him is the president of the PDP-Laban and has been going around much in the country purportedly as part of his running for presidency by the next presidential election.
Defensor said that he would meet the vice president for he could not say no to his invitation and in order to accord him due respect. The governor, however, declined to divulge to media where the meeting would be held since Binay would be in Guimaras on Sunday for the Manggahan Festival.
The governor until now belongs to the Lakas-Kampi-CMD (Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats) Party.
Defensor further contended that the presidential election is still far away and that he believes to become president is a destiny that no matter how one works hard for it if it is not meant for him it could not ever happen.
